This year, The Salvation Army is anticipating a greater need for help in our communities. COVID-19 has brought on many economic hardships that are impacting people’s abilities to pay bills, buy groceries and provide for their families. For the holidays, we are asking the tenants at each of our locations for help in raising money to help these families. When you donate at one of our facilities, that money is going directly to the aid of those who need it.
While the holiday season is a time to celebrate for some, it brings many challenges for others. The Salvation Army could potentially be serving up to 155% more neighbors in need this year with fewer funds. Due to store closures and people online shopping more, the red kettles are not expected to bring in the average amount of donations. That is where The Salvation Army needs our help.
When you donate to The Salvation Army, the organization uses those funds to purchase meals for families and Christmas presents for kids whose parents had to focus to on other fiscal obligations. For instance, The Salvation Army in Florida is expecting to serve 168,000 meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and more than 300,000 families will be part of the Angel Tree program. Donations also help families pay off bills and buy groceries, and they also support local homeless shelters. When you give to this cause, you are helping to make the holidays a little better for your community during these uncertain times.
